Leeds United release carbon third kit celebrating 400th anniversary of Royal Charter

Leeds United have introduced their ‘carbon’ third kit for the 2026/27 campaign, honouring a significant milestone in the city’s past. The entirely black alternate shirt displays a comprehensive graphic commemorating the 400-year anniversary of Leeds receiving its Royal Charter in 1621. A Royal Charter transforms a group of individuals into one legal entity and receives approval from the current monarch. The third kit arrives after the unveiling of the conventional white home ensemble, which incorporates yellow and blue pinstripe rings, and the well-received yellow away shirt designed in the Adidas originals style.

Leeds United announced in a communication that the club and Adidas had revealed the club’s third kit for the 2026/27 season, marking the 400th anniversary of the Leeds Royal Charter and honouring the city the club proudly represents. Awarded in 1626, the Royal Charter represented a crucial moment in Leeds’s history and its growth throughout the following centuries. Four centuries on, the new third kit acknowledges that heritage through a modern design influenced by the city’s recognisable buildings and industrial legacy. The carbon shirt showcases eye-catching silver accents alongside a comprehensive graphic drawing from the structures, materials and character associated with Leeds. Silver Adidas three-stripes run along the shoulders, accompanying the adidas logo and Leeds United crest, while complementary carbon shorts and socks finalise the complete ensemble. The kit maintains Leeds United’s enduring relationship with Leeds’s residents and locations, commemorating a city whose character has been formed by creativity and community for generations. Engineered for athletic performance, the shirt incorporates adidas CLIMACOOL technology, which draws away and distributes moisture to assist players in remaining cool, dry and focused on the pitch. The sleek profile has also been crafted with fans at the forefront, offering sustained comfort whether worn at Elland Road or elsewhere.
