Welcome to our Leeds United transfer coverage for Monday, August 24.
With just over a week remaining before the summer window shuts, Premier League sides are scrambling to complete business with the new campaign already underway.
Leeds secured a 1-0 victory at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, with Anton Stach netting the decisive goal late in the match. The result lifts the club to eighth position in the top flight, yet Daniel Farke is still expected to bring in several new signings before the September 1 cutoff and may sanction some departures.
The Yorkshire club are on the verge of completing a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Michael Zetterer, with the clubs agreeing a fee of £4.3million. The 31-year-old will serve as backup to recently-signed James Trafford, while Lucas Perri is poised to complete his own switch to Torino.
In other areas of the pitch, Leeds remain in discussions over a season-long loan move for Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk. The London club are seeking assurances over playing time for the Ukrainian winger, who has been sidelined from competitive action for 20 months, and the 25-year-old is understood to favour staying in the Premier League, making Leeds a suitable destination.
Farke is also looking to strengthen his forward line, with Ermedin Demirovic identified as a key target. The Stuttgart centre-forward only arrived at the German club from Augsburg last year in a £20million deal, and Leeds may need to surpass that valuation to secure his services before the window closes.
Patrick Berg has emerged as another potential signing following his impressive World Cup campaign with Norway. The 28-year-old midfielder from Bodø/Glimt remains under contract until 2028, meaning any interested parties would need to meet a substantial asking price.
Leeds are also monitoring Midtjylland forward Dario Osorio. Despite a Transfermarkt valuation of £12.8million for the 22-year-old, the club could face a bill of up to £17million given competition from other suitors.
According to Tuttomercato, Lucas Perri continues to be Torino’s primary goalkeeping target, with the player expected to join the Italian side initially on loan with a view to a permanent deal valued at around £12million. The Brazilian stopper has featured for just 45 minutes during pre-season preparations.
Leeds are continuing their pursuit of Mykhailo Mudryk, with Fabrizio Romano confirming the interest. Chelsea are open to allowing the Ukrainian midfielder to depart Stamford Bridge on loan to regain match fitness after his extended absence. Given Mudryk’s preference for remaining in England’s top flight, Leeds present an attractive option for the player this term.
The club have also reached a £4.3million agreement for Michael Zetterer, who will provide competition for the goalkeeper position behind James Trafford, as Lucas Perri nears his move to Torino.
