Leeds United look set to part ways with Joel Piroe after reports emerged that a transfer agreement has been reached.
The Dutch forward was instrumental in guiding the Whites back to the top flight following their Championship triumph in the 2024/25 campaign, yet appears destined to depart Elland Road this summer.
Piroe managed just 16 Premier League outings during the most recent season and found himself frequently watching from the sidelines under head coach Daniel Farke.
The Suriname international’s solitary strike of the term arrived during the FA Cup last-16 phase against Norwich City.
Rumours regarding Piroe’s potential departure have circulated for several weeks, and fresh developments have now surfaced regarding his immediate future.
According to transfer specialist Ben Jacobs, West Ham United are on the brink of acquiring Piroe’s signature on a temporary basis from Leeds, with the arrangement also incorporating a mandatory purchase clause.
The report indicates, however, that this permanent transfer obligation would be contingent upon certain conditions being fulfilled, specifically if the Hammers achieve promotion from the Championship back to the Premier League.
It has also been reported that Leeds have authorized Piroe to proceed with a medical examination to finalize his switch to West Ham, with the forward now anticipated to relocate from Elland Road to the London Stadium.
Piroe’s current contract at Leeds concludes at the conclusion of this campaign, though the club retain the ability to trigger a 12-month extension option.
Additional exits from Leeds may occur during the transfer window, with Sebastiaan Bornauw also anticipated to pursue an exit with a transfer to Hamburg already in negotiations.
Regarding incoming transfers, Leeds have already secured the signings of Harry Wilson, James Trafford and Tarik Muharemovic, with further acquisitions expected in the coming days and weeks.
