Leeds United striker Joel Piroe has been given the green light to make the trip to West Ham for his medical examination, though the forward could be joined by other players leaving Daniel Farke’s squad.
Goalkeeper Lucas Perri is scheduled to land in Italy today to complete his medical checks before finalising his switch to Torino. The Brazil international has reached an agreement with the Serie A side, who will initially take him on loan for €1m, which translates to approximately £855,000, with the option to trigger a permanent transfer for a further €14m, around £12m.
Although Perri managed 20 appearances across all competitions last term, his prospects at Elland Road became uncertain when James Trafford arrived from Manchester City earlier this summer. The 28-year-old stopper is now anticipated to complete his medical examinations in Italy today, with an official announcement expected within the next few days.
Olympique de Marseille attempted to derail Torino’s pursuit of the Brazilian, but their efforts came to nothing and the Ligue 1 outfit have since shifted their attention towards alternative goalkeeping options.
Perri only joined Leeds last summer, arriving from Lyon in a deal worth £15.6m. Despite beginning the season as the club’s number one, he was overtaken by Karl Darlow between the posts from January onwards.
Leeds wrapped up their pre-season preparations with a commanding 4-0 victory over German club FC Augsburg at Elland Road on Saturday. Ahead of that fixture, Farke offered his assessment of the club’s transfer activity so far.
He expressed that he had been vocal about his desire to sign James Trafford for considerable time, and that the club had pursued him even before the current window, calling his arrival a significant upgrade. Regarding the attack, Farke noted the acquisition of Harry Wilson on a free transfer brought valuable experience and impressive statistics from last season. He acknowledged that certain areas of the squad still require strengthening, particularly after seeing the available options against Manchester United, where some positions proved difficult to fill adequately. Farke stated he would not elaborate publicly on specific areas needing attention, as doing so would only inflate asking prices. He remained optimistic about completing additional signments before the transfer windows close.
