Joe Rodon has pledged his long-term future to Leeds United after putting pen to paper on a fresh four-year agreement at Elland Road. The centre-back had been tied to the club until the summer of 2028, meaning this new arrangement effectively extends his stay by two years on improved personal terms, with the contract now running through to the conclusion of the 2029/30 campaign.
The deal represents a fitting recognition for the defender, who produced a standout pre-season showing and has established himself as a reliable figure within Daniel Farke’s starting eleven.
The Welsh international earned the nickname Joe Salah from Farke during the summer following a performance in which he charged forward in a manner reminiscent of the Egyptian forward, and he now forms an integral component of the club’s defensive line-up.
Initially joining on a temporary basis from Tottenham Hotspur back in 2023, Rodon made the switch permanent twelve months later and featured in every single one of Leeds’ 46 Championship fixtures during their title-winning season, which saw the club clinch promotion back to the Premier League while accumulating a record-breaking points total for the club. Having returned to the top tier, he demonstrated throughout the previous campaign that he possesses all the qualities required to compete at that level, and there is optimism that he can make an even greater impact this term as part of an evolving squad.
Leeds United confirmed the agreement in a statement expressing delight that Rodon had committed his future to the club by signing a new contract running until the summer of 2030. The extended terms provide further encouragement as Leeds continue their efforts to strengthen the squad before the transfer window shuts in under a fortnight.
