Wilson given number 10 shirt after Piroe’s West Ham exit

Leeds United have announced their squad numbers for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign, with Harry Wilson undergoing a shirt switch.

The summer acquisition previously sported the number 17 during pre-season fixtures but has now been allocated the prestigious number 10 shirt following Joel Piroe’s temporary departure to West Ham United. The Wales international becomes the latest in a distinguished line of players to don the jersey, following in the footsteps of club legends such as Billy Bremner, Eddie Gray and Raphinha.

Meanwhile, the goalkeeping position has seen a change at the top. James Trafford was photographed sporting the digit during pre-season and that arrangement has now been made official for the new season.

Consequently, Lucas Perri – who occupied the number one spot last term but is now expected to leave the club – has been assigned the number 23, previously worn by Sebastiaan Bornauw prior to his loan move to Hamburg.

New centre-back acquisition Nico Elvedi will take on the number 30 shirt, inheriting it from Joe Gelhardt, who now plies his trade as a striker for Hull City. Tarik Muharemovic has arrived as cover for Pascal Struijk’s departure and will wear the number five jersey.

Aside from Perri, every player from last season’s squad has maintained their existing shirt numbers, while academy products including Alfie Cresswell, Jayden Lienou and Callum Mills have retained the numbers they wore throughout the summer campaign.
