With the transfer deadline fast approaching, Leeds United could be set for further activity in the market. Daniel Farke’s team opened their Premier League season with a narrow victory over Nottingham Forest at the weekend. The same opposition awaits them on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup second round. While Farke focuses on matters on the pitch, transfer business is likely to continue as the window deadline approaches.
The club have already secured four senior signings this summer. Harry Wilson arrived on a free transfer from Fulham, while Nico Elvedi joined from Borussia Monchengladbach for an initial £6.8million. Tarik Muharemovic made the switch from Juventus for £34.1million. James Trafford’s arrival from Manchester City cost £40million, breaking the club’s transfer record. Trafford, Muharemovic and Wilson all featured in the starting lineup against Forest, with Elvedi among the unused substitutes.
Several players have left Elland Road. Pascal Struijk moved to Brighton for approximately £20million, and Joe Gelhardt returned to newly-promoted Premier League side Hull City after his loan spell there last season. Isaac Schmidt joined Young Boys, Jack Harrison moved to New England Revolution, Illan Meslier signed for Arsenal and Karl Darlow for Manchester United, both on free transfers. Maximilian Wober departed for Schalke.
With the window closing in the coming days, potential arrivals and departures continue to be monitored.
Mykhailo Mudryk remains a target for Leeds, who are hoping to secure the Ukrainian winger on a season-long loan. Chelsea are prepared to allow him to leave Stamford Bridge as he looks to rediscover his form following 20 months away from regular football. The 25-year-old’s initial move to west London was rejected last week, though negotiations continue. Several clubs are understood to be interested, though Mudryk favours staying in the Premier League, making Leeds a potential destination if terms can be agreed.
Backup goalkeeper Lucas Perri could be among those departing Elland Road. The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Serie A, with Torino identified as his primary suitors according to reports from Italy. The Turin club are considering an initial loan arrangement with an option to buy for £12million. Juventus, their city rivals, have also been credited with interest in the shot-stopper, who has made 20 appearances for Leeds across all competitions.
Should Perri leave, Michael Zetterer could arrive as his replacement. Leeds are reportedly confident of securing the Eintracht Frankfurt keeper to serve as understudy to Trafford, despite one of his agents publicly disputing that a transfer was imminent. However, sources indicate the club remain optimistic about completing the signing, with Pellatz’s statements not reflecting the club’s understanding of the situation.
Leeds are also tracking Midtjylland winger Dario Osorio, with Liverpool and Everton also monitoring the 22-year-old Chilean international who could bolster Farke’s attacking options before the deadline.
Liam Delap appears set to leave Chelsea this summer after falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge. The 23-year-old has struggled since his move from Ipswich, where he netted 12 goals in 40 appearances. Leeds have reportedly been informed a permanent deal would cost £50million. The club are monitoring developments but are not currently in a position to pursue such a significant outlay. A temporary move or negotiated fee reduction could be more feasible. With Farke requiring additional options and competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the striker position remains one to watch in the remaining days of the window.
